Cleveland Homegrown with Green Label, Uncanny, and Edubs and the Sine
Another awesome homegrown night. Everyone was playing upright basses, it seems to be a trend lately, and I think it's cool. The first band was Green Label. They were a nice blend of acoustic and electric. They payed omage to one of their influences Van Morrison with a cover of Moondance. I could also hear hints of Steely Dan, Spiro Gyra, Tull, and Dave Matthews to name a few. Next up was Uncanny. Also on the jazzy side. They had a keyboardist, as well as a drummer and a percussionist. They had a strong Reggae sound mixed with 20's and 30's blues/jazz swing, if you can imagine that. Finally E-dubs and the sine finished off the night. This was their second time playing at Verlie's and it was even better than the first. Look for the return of Edub's, and the rest of the crew this fall. Here's what you said:

Cleveland Homegrown with B&B Abriance, Midnight Savoy, and Watson 387
Another awesome Cleveland Homegrown night. First up was the Verlie's debut of Midnight at the Savoy. They were hard to classify. Definitely avant guarde, sorta fusion, but raw. I could here hints of 70 progressive artists such as Zappa, and Rush. A good band and a good warm up for B&B. B&B Abriance are Brian and Brian from DOHM. The funny thing is that they are both awesome guitarists, and yet neither of them play guitar in DOHM. One is the lead singer, and the other is the drummer. These guys totally blow me away every time they play! I got goosebumps more than once, it was probably the best show I've seen this year. Don't miss B&B with the whole band (DOHM) September 30th. Finally Watson 387 finished up the night with their modern, hard rock /metal sound. Look for them to host a Cleveland Homegrown show sometime in the near future. Here's what you had to say:
- Good bar, good people, wicked sound. THanks for having us! - Midnight at the Savoy
- Midnight at the Savoy was good...where's Eugene? Interesting music - Lorainne McFly
- Midnight at the Savoy practically melted me face off! Guitar god/singer was too talente 4 for this earth! Drummer out if this world! Bassist seductively aliens
- B and B - unbelievable musicianship, and guitar work - Sista B

The Electric Earth Tone
Last night was the long overdue debut of the Electric Earth Tone. Some of you may know Evan as our Sunday house band drummer. But he is also an awesome guitar player and singer. Joined by Larry on bass, and our old friend Steve on drums, the electric Earth Tone rocked the house. They play 60's and 70's covers along with originals that sound like they are from that era. Also thanks to E. J. for coming down and drawing some caricatures. Here's what you said:

Cleveland Homegrown with Dead Letter Room, Downtown Daggers, Corissa, and Jeff James
It was like 2 shows in one. Dead Letter Room features David K playing along with some sequenced stuff. It's much better than it sounds, a far cry from karaoke. It was reminiscent of late 70's glam, punk, but still modern. One of my favorite local artists, a must see.
Next up were the Downtown Daggers. They kept the 70's vibe going with a high energy set of straight forward rock and roll.
The second half of the night shifted gear into the acoustic realm. Starting off with Corissa. She brought along flautist Parker who added another dimension to her set.
Jeff James "the Gothfather" finished out the night with his unique brand of acoustic originals. He debuted a couple a new tunes, and was joined by back up vocalist Farro. Here's what you said:
- Hello Verlie's, My first time here and I must say I am highly impressed. There are far too few bars in Cleveland that spread this kind of vibe! It's a true hometown bar...dig it - Matty D
- The Gothfather totally rocked. They reminded us of Nickelback which is our favorite band. We can't wait to come back on Wednesday to hear more awesome music - Tiny
- Verlie's rocks, had a great time, rock on - Foxy Dagger
- Whoever you are sweetr female octave, your canary voice, sing long, sing loud - DM
- Cool! Everyone should come out, drink some beers, and have a good time. See ya next time - David K/Dead letter Room
- Verlie's is addictive. Perscription recommended, don't to forget to brush - Pan
- Toddy Styles and Foxy Dagger were living up to their stage names at the Downtown Daggers show. Too bad their girlfriends were so bad ass. So we're listening from a distance.
- Me and my girlfriend got all dressed up and went out to see some good rock and roll at Verlie's. The bands totally rocked!
