Annual Birthday Bash and Jam
Wow what a night! I think it was the best B-day jam ever! As always we had our annual Valkyrie reunion. Valkyrie hosted the original B-day Christmas jam 25 years ago when we practiced upstairs. Special thanks to Anne, Jeremy, & Connie for learning my Christmas song which made it's live debut last night. There were so many jammers and so little time, we're sorry if everyone didn't get to play. I appreciate everyone coming out to help celebrate my B-day and the Holiday season. I think the party will be permanently moved to Christmas night from now on. A special thanks to all the musicians who showed up to play: Jeremy, Ken, Jackson, Frank "Silk" Smith, Jose, Lonnie Reid, Drummer Mike, Denise, Kenny Strange, Neon Craig, Donzo, Evan, Burns, Laurie, Birthday girl Car, Annewah, Declan and his son, Alberto, Sean, Reese, Connie, Rhino, Jude, Randy, Georgeanne, and everyone else who showed up to party. It is my annual Birthday bash and jam. We've moved it to Christmas Night this year so after all the hoopla is over come down and party @ Verlie's. You can expect to see and hear some of Cleveland's best musicians participating in this annual rock and roll extravaganza. The party will be starting at 9:00 but the bar will be open all day. If you wanna jam get there early to sign up. The jams last night were awesome, here's what you said:

-
I don't drink so you won't catch me in a bar very often but Verlie's is different. I've never seen a place quite like it before. Not only are the people friendly but some of the best musicians I have ever seen will stop in there just to play a few tunes! Me? I am just some schmuck with a bass guitar and I am honored to have been asked to sit in on a few tunes with some awesome players. It's been an eye opening and enlightening experience for me to say the least! Verlie's is a place where anyone with music in their heart can come in and play or just listen without worrying about a few sour notes here and there. This is a place where anyone can realize the true power of music as long as they are courteous, respectful and can let their musical spirit fly free. Sunday night is jam (open mic ) night so bring yourself, your guitar, flute, bongos, bagpipes, didgeridoo or whatever you got that makes music and come on in and play !
“In your head you can hear, a voice so sweet and clear
And the music that plays in your head
As it flows up from the ground
Taking all who hear that sound
Close your eyes, it's about to begin” – Robin Trower
Cheers,
Ken

Mute (Enertia)

Stark 42
Last night we had 3 acoustic acts on the bill. It felt more like a Tuesday than a Saturday. Opening the show was John Foytik & Nick Dacek playing some originals. Next up was Ryan Novotny (aka Louie Styx) He played with a loop pedal. It was like a mini sequencer and he was laying down tracks live. He put in rhythm, bass, and lead, and then sang on top of it. It was really unique. Headlining the show was acoustic trio Stark 42 consisting of Brad Demiter, Carl Capellas, and John Templeman. They had the crowd singing along right out of the gate. Vanity Crash + Science Fiction Idols
Old man winter rolled into to Cleveland last night, but Vanity Crash fans were not deterred. We had a full house that came down to rock with the band. Special thanks to Science Fiction Idols who came all the way from Pittsburgh to open the show. I had tickets to TSO, and got back just as they were finishing. From what everyone was saying, they kicked ass. I got a little taste at the end of the night when they joined VC and rocked out to some Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Vanity Crash was is top form last night. They have come a long way since the first time they played here, and I'm sure they're going to go a lot further. I think they may outgrow this club, but hopefully they will always come back and see us. Here's what you said:
