Friday March 31st, Saturday April 1st
3 North, Grounded
It was a classic rock weekend @ Verlie's. On Friday we had old favorites 3 North with Mike Yurick filling in on drums. And Saturday we had Grounded formerly Straight Shooter. I decided to combine blogs because even though there was a good turnout on both nights, there were not alot of blogs. Lately people aren't that into writing them. The blog is a living thing, and you are a part of it. If no one wants to write blogs it may simply fade to black...here's what you said:
- 3 North loves Verlie's - Chris
- Thank God for school grades. My son has been grounded every weekend because of grades. So my lovely wife and I can go out and not worry about a babysitter - KPR
- Kenny's the best! He's soooo hot! - Cuzin Joey
- My friend Tina S says she's in love with the drummer in his tank top from the band Grounded. And they play great music, and know how to get down - Penny W.
- Steph and her band Grounded put it all out there tonight! - Lady C
- Ya know, for being "grounded" these guys sure took off. I could hear it from down the block, and I loved it. Good loud rock is better than none at all. God gave rock n' roll to you me and Verlie's - Jeremy
- Second time I came to see a band for the first time and they've changed thier name, go figure! Don't care what the name is, this band plays some great tunes! - Anon...blonde

Minute Of Arc & My Great Escape
For those of you metalheads not familiar with our Wednesday Metal nights, all I can say is you gotta check it out. This week featured Minute of Arc and My Great Escape. My Great Escape opened the night with a powerful twin guitar attack and dished up an electrifying, in your face set of molten metal. Sometimes bordering on modern metal they had an underlying melodic feel that makes them one of the better Cleveland acts to appear here. Next up was Minute Of Arc. This was their second appearance at Verlie's and they were awesome. They made a great contrast to MGE with a very dynamic and melodic set of tunes. Somewhat reminiscent of Kings X although only the bassist knew who Kings X is. Great show all around. Look for the return of both bands later this year. Here's what you had to say:
- I feel good about the 1.75 beer but you should move closer to Kent - Lowe
- Both bands were GREAT. Not to mention the service! I've never been to this bar before and the bartender treated me like I've come here for years. Great place to have a good time. VERLIE"S ROCKS!!!!! I'll be back again. - Amy
- MOC(Minute of Arc was awesome. The drummer is hot. Had a blast here. Music is definately rockin. I love Verlie's. - Dani

Tuesday March 22nd 2006
We had tickets to see Queen & Paul Rodgers last night, so when we got back the festivities were well underway. Jamil was kind enought to volunteer as guest blogger, and I was happy to oblige:
Hey there party people. If you missed tues at Verlie's you missed one hell of a time. Joe came packin' his pistols and Jack made it a party as usual. A lot of jammers showed up late and were greeted by Joe holdin' it down with Bear on sax and Reeses' smooth vocals. Also on stage was our old friend Benny from Tennessee. Always good to see ya. The next set reunited Don and Benny and their chemistry was undeniable. Like they've been playin' together for years....wait they have been. And it definately shows. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better we were surprised by Sharon Telecky of "Blue Honey" who stopped in for a few drinks and songs. She was backed up by Jack and Myself. Also Helpin' out was Jeremy who did a great job on "Old Love". He really rocked that song. It was no doubt a night to remember. Here's what the people had to say.

Friday March 17th St. Patty's Day 2006
Cleveland knows how to party on St Patty's day. I remember playing in Iowa one year, and we couldn't even find a bar in the whole town that was open! We finally came across a bowling allley that was open and served beer. They could care less about St. Pattys day, it was just another day. That's not the case in Cleveland, we know how to throw a party, and St. Patricks day is one of the biggest of the year. We kicked it off early with Jeremy Piteo performing as he does every Friday for happy hour. Along with the corned beef and cabbage, Jeremy had a couple of guest join him, including Mark, and drummer Mike. The headliner of the night Buffle O' Creek took the party to the next level. Along with Don, Ray, Chuck, Mike, Rodger, we were pleased to see Benny back from Tennessee with his fiddle in tow. As always the band brought up some jammers including Jeremy, Connie, Mark, Tom, Craig. But the truly special treat was Rodger and his son Allan playing guitarts together for the first time. Another first for Verlie's! A loverly time was had by all, here's what ya corkers had to say:
- Peace, love, music, fun, that's what Verlie's is all about, if you don't like it, you can get your arrsh out- Sista Batryl
- Had a wonderful experience -Allan
- Love, peace, and corned beef grease - the chefs
- Verlie's is and has always been like a second family to me. It doesn't matter when you go there, you always have a good time. Now they have music on the weekend, it couldn't get any better! Happy St. Pattys Day - Chris
- So, I'm very loaded, but St. Patricks day is my holiday, and I was so glad to spend it here at Verlie's with my friends from Buffalo Creek. And that ain't no Blarney Bucko! Now I must go, the pipes are calling - Jeremy
- Damn I missed Sunday, but E-Man is OK, all that counts - Neon Craig
- Hey Hey what a party at Verlies, if you weren't here you missed it. A lot of talent, lots of fun, and as always a great bar with great people. Buffalo Creek is the best - love Bev
- Buffalo Creek flows deep like a mighty river, yet not overflowing it's banks. It's current runs deep and strong - Pirate Joe
- Begorrah! Tarp O' th' evenin' ta yer!!! May St. Pattys Day Green fill yer hart full o' cheer. And may the green in yer billfold be plenty thru the year! - The drunken drummer

Acoustic Jams I'm liking this guest blogger thing...Next up, Sleepy Reese:
I went to the Calla Club tonight to jam with my old friends, Blue Steve Martin and Sharon Michelle. I hadn't seen them in quite awhile...( mostly because I can't seem to steer too far from home on any given Tuesday) It was a good time, but I had to bow out early, 'cause it just couldn't compare to the atmosphere we have at ...wait ,did I say, atmosphere? I meant, the groove I knew there'd be at "home". Anyway, Jack Charlton and Jeremy Piteo did their best to keep up with the rest of us tonight. I'd say they held their own, but just in case, they had, Bear ( their secret weapon) givin' the thing some muscle... Joe Brunetti once again blew the collective mind of the bar, breaking out a banjo that he crafted himself. ( how 'bout that shit?) Not only was the banjo a thing of beauty, the playing was superb! Connie joined Don and Mark to give us some original country as well as some of our favorite southern rock. It was a great night... I wish I'd come earlier... Here's what y'all said:
- I was a pickin' & a grinnin' @ Verlie's, and KARL CHARLTON was smilin'. He's my friend. I ain't got many friends, but we made friends right at the front! Thank Ye.... Banjo Joe Childers
- Jack, I think they're just messing with you. You left your harps in the bar where they were safe - Lady C
- Great Service! Friends... Music is fantastic! Good! A must hear. Takes me back to my youth! America, Willie Nelson ect. you know! Great atmosphere! Great music! Nothing like old school
- As always, Verlies was rockin'. We had a great Tuesday with Jack, Jeremy and all the others who showed up. If you weren't here, you missed it... Sorry about your luck... See you Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednsdays - Love Libby
- Joe Brunetti stopped down and brought his banjo! Never would've thunk it! He jammed! I wanna hear Joe & Greg Perry do some pickin' together - Vickie
- I could listen to Jeremy every day for the rest of my life, because I believe in people! - Hope
- It's great to see Mr. Maynard out on a Tuesday jam night! I love to sing his originals as much as I love singing covers! - Connie
- Goodnight Johnboy.................

Hey Everyone, Jeremy Piteo here acting as 'guest narrator'. What a night! I'm so glad I was a part of it. So many players and such great music, the place was rockin' till closing time, and there was a great crowd. Frank "Silk" Smith, Jackson and Botchie on drums with Ken-O on bass rocked out "Maggot Brain", Roelando and Alberto did some cool Hendrix, The Radio Werewolves treated us to some modern originals which added new flavor to the night, even Verlie's favorites Jack Charlton and piano man Steve Masek made it in for the jam. it was like nothing I've ever seen, and thank you Vickie and Ken for making it possible.
