Acoustic Jams
Last night's hosts were Jack and Kevin McCarthy. We learned early on that Cleveland blues legend Robert Jr Lockwood passed away. I first met Robert down at the Rockwell Inn in the early 80's. I had the pleasure of sitting in with him on numerous occasions at the Rockwell, and later when he hosted the jam at Brother's lounge. He was truely a legend and will be sorely missed by many. Thanks to all the jammers: Kristine Jackson, Steve, Tracy, Kenny, and Reese. Here's what you said:

The Undecided, and My Sky Tomorrow
After OSU kicked Michigan State's ass, everyone was stoked up and ready to party with two kick ass Cleveland original bands. First up was the Undecided, so named because they haven't decided on a name yet. They are a hard rock band. I could hear hints of Rush, Springsteen, and Disturbed. These guys are still a little raw, but they have the makings of an outstanding rock band. Next up was My Sky Tomorrow. Including two former members of Hydra, these guys have added an awesome keyboardist, and some kewl harmonies. I could hear hints of Classic Rock artists: the police, Bob Seger, REO Speedwagon. But still with a modern slant. They asked me to sit in on a little blues jam at the end of the night, and I had a blast. Look for the return of MST next year. Here's what you said:
- Vickie, this place just rocks. Tonights band, My Sky Tomorrow, again another gem in Cleveland rock and roll that I never knew about till I came to Verlie's. Verlie's is the best unknown live music bar in Cleveland - Danny Who
- Undecided wuz the ultimate! Nate's awesome! Rock on Dude's - Lurch & Leele
- Saw Undecided, great show. 95 year old Pittsburgh fan, Go Browns!! - Amy

- Verlie's Cafe rocks. Undecided was awesome, and My Sky Tomorrow is the bomb!! - Jen

Doc's Ferment, and B & B aBriance
Leave it to Brian from DOHM to come up with another awesome Cleveland band: Doc's Ferment. These guys blew me away! They have a progressive style that is reminiscent of Rush, Asia, and Yes. A must see, I can't wait to hear them again. Headlining the show was our friends Brian and Brian from DOHM aka B & B aBriance. As always they they put on a great show. Later in the evening Little Buddy showed up and joined them, and it became DOHM unplugged! Another night of stellar music. Here's what you said:
- I love Verlie's Cafe. Anywhere that serves Bud in a can has my approval. Let alone the vibe you get with a couple shots and a beer. Verlie's Cafe lets you show what you have in a small, but intimate setting. Verlie's is the meeting place for bands, but more than that, good people - Matt from Watson 387
- I am riding the waves of energy dude! - Sista B
- Great place to play. Great hospitality. Verlie's a home for finest Rock n Roll - RF
- Verlie's, home of the music makers and dreamers of dreams! You guys are great, thanks for having us
- B and B are like two cogs of a well oiled machine - Witchy Poo
- We're too far away (North Royalton) too old, and we always start drinking too early in the afternoon! - Larry & Dorothy
- Doc's Ferment - biggest sound in the universe, absolutly phenomenal. B&B aBriance - brilliant guitar harmonies. Sheer imagination in sound. Knoll's voice is a weapon. Pritchard is a mad scientist. Quite honestly, both of these bands make me want to either kill myself, or go practice!!! Doc's ferment: your moustache smell of my testes. B and B - I will run scales tonight, then cry myself to sleep. Love all of y'all - Nathaniel
- Whats with the rototoms resurgence, I for one like it! - Zazu Pitts
- I came for sex, drugs, and rock and roll...I left with rock and roll. And that's OK with me - Damian James
- Every time I come here, I feel like I'm here - Taco Tina
- My first time @ Verlie's and I loved it! Heard about this place for years. I regret waiting so long to visit. The live music was great - a prime example of our local Cleveland talent. Looking forward to my next visit
- I know your f#*kin someone else - Doc
- Fun place to play, sound was great. They take care of the bands, a very respectful place - Pipino, Doc's Ferment
- Great sound, nice staff, good to the bands - Grace, photographer of Doc's Ferment
- 2nd visit to Verlie's. Alot like the 1st. Great Music! B and B is quite impressive. Check thtem out! And Verlie's along with the bartenders are awesome!
- If I owned my own bar, and had a choice of 2 beers to be on tap, it would be PBR and Great Lakes Dort. Verlies has impeccable taste - Max, from DOHM

Viola, The Square Casanovas, the Francis Brothers
Opening the show was Viola. Some of you may remember him from when he played with Vanity Crash. Now he's on his own doing a solo acoustic show. He pulled out some kewl singer/songwriter originals. Look for Viola to host a homegrown show next year. Next up The Square Casanovas took the stage. They have made a few changes since the last time I saw them, including adding harmonies and a keyboard player. They still have a bluegrass/punk base. But now they seem to be moving into the progressive/psychedelic realm, and I like it alot. As always Derek is a supreme slide and banjo player. They have come a long way since the last time they played, and I can't wait to see where they go from here. Here's what you said:
- Thanks Verlie's, all I can say is Viola Rocked!!! And good job Francis Brothers - Jeff DuBois (the Square Casanovas)
- All I can say is...why aren't you in the Square Casanova's, Viola? - Gesyciah

- Verlie's is a cool place to check out Cleveland bands! Support local music!
- Been a while since I've been here and I come in and hear an exquisite blend of piano, drums, bass and dobro (banjo too). Every song different and unexpected. Soothing and powerful! Unique vocal blend. A grand job, Square Casanovas! I'll hear you again! - DM of BC
